SUBTITLE: Confronting The Sins We Tolerate
Abortion, adultery, violence-it seems the big sins grab all the headlines. But what about jealousy, selfishness, greed, and "little" faults we live with every day? Opening our eyes to the spiritual dangers of "acceptable" transgressions, Bridges urges us to thoughtfully examine our lives and turn away from subtle behaviors that can drain our Christian growth.Publishers Description
Have Christians become so preoccupied with "major" sins that we have lost sight of our need to deal with more subtle sins? Navigator author Jerry Bridges addresses the "acceptable" sins that we tend to tolerate in ourselves, including pride and anger. He goes to the heart of the matter, exploring our feelings of shame and grief and opening a new door to God's forgiveness and grace. Travel down the road of spiritual formation with Jerry and discover your true identity as a loved child of God. A discussion guide is available separately.

Must read books for serious Christians! Oct 31, 2008
I loved this book. Respectable sins are the things that we would be willing to let others see in us: anger, complaining, critical spirit and judgementalism. This was a convicting book, but one that I would recommend to all of my friends! I would also challenge you to ask your true friends what sins they see in you that you do not see yourself. Sin tends to blind us to our own sinfulness, but others can usually see it pretty clearly.

It's hard enough to see the truth about sin in ourselves even though we are the way we are but as you know, easy to see in others,as this book truthfully points out. The biblcal truth about sin and the sinner compaired to what God wants from us and will bring about in us if we will allow Him to is well explained in this brief look at the way we accept as "OK" the things God wants to work out of our life to make us more acceptable to Him. The work He begain in us when we first believed He will continue here on this earth until we go to be with Him. This book can help to see this truth from the word of God and act upon it and more glorify our God for who He is and what He has done for us.

Jerry Bridges has a way of getting to the point. There is no "fluff" in this book. It is practical, personal and convicting in a very valuable way.
Bridges exposes many of the things that we ignore (and some we even celebrate) as the sin that it is. Great for personal or group reading.
